Bumping Purses is a slang term that refers to the act of stealing someone’s purse or wallet, usually in a crowded place, by bumping into them and creating a distraction.

This sneaky tactic is commonly used by pickpockets in busy areas to snatch people’s belongings without them noticing. The thief will purposefully bump into their target, causing a moment of confusion and distraction, while at the same time, discreetly taking their purse or wallet.

Example 1: “I had my purse stolen while shopping downtown. I felt a slight bump, and when I checked my bag, my wallet was gone.”

Example 2: “Be careful at the train station, as there have been reports of pickpockets bumping purses and stealing valuable items.”
