The internet slang term “Veil” is used to describe the act of concealing or hiding one’s true identity or intentions online. It refers to the practice of creating a subtle disguise or protective barrier to prevent others from discovering one’s real self or motives. Veil is primarily associated with situations where individuals purposely obscure their true intentions or present a false image of themselves in online interactions.

Examples:

1. Person A: Did you see that new user’s comment on the forum? They seem to have an ulterior motive.
Person B: Yeah, they are definitely veiling their true intentions. We should be cautious before taking them at face value.

2. Person A: Why does that influencer always use a fake name and photoshop their pictures?
Person B: They prefer to keep a veil online, to separate their personal and public lives. It gives them a sense of privacy while still engaging with their audience.
