Shakedown is a slang term used on the internet to describe a situation where someone is trying to extort or intimidate others for personal gain. It refers to an act of forcefully obtaining money, information, or favors from someone by using threats or manipulation.

Examples:

1. John received an email from an unknown sender, claiming they had compromising photos of him. The sender demanded a large sum of money to prevent the photos from being shared online. John realized it was a shakedown attempt and reported it to the authorities.

2. Sarah was followed by a stranger in a dark alley who threatened to harm her if she didn’t hand over her purse. Terrified, she quickly realized it was a shakedown and screamed for help, drawing the attention of passersby.
