A “White Knight” is an internet slang term used to describe someone, typically a man, who defends and comes to the rescue of others, particularly women, without reason or merit. These individuals tend to go out of their way to support and protect others online, often in an excessive or exaggerated manner. They may intervene in online discussions or conflicts, standing up for others and presenting themselves as the hero in an attempt to gain approval or attention.

Examples:
1. During an online debate about video gaming, John constantly jumps in to defend his female friends whenever someone criticizes them. He acts like a white knight, thinking it will impress them and make him seem chivalrous.
2. Sarah posted a tweet expressing her annoyance with a specific TV show. Soon after, a white knight comes along, aggressively defending the show and berating Sarah for her opinion. His unnecessary and aggressive defense earned him a reputation as an internet white knight.
