In social settings or situations where privacy is desired, “sos” can be used as a warning that caution should be taken to avoid sharing or discussing sensitive or inappropriate topics in the presence of others. It serves as a coded way of letting someone know to be mindful of their surroundings and to adjust their behavior accordingly.

Examples:
1. Person A: “Did you hear about what happened last weekend?”
Person B: “SOS, the boss is right behind you!”

2. Friend A: “I need to tell you something, but there are people around.”
Friend B: “No problem, just give me the SOS signal when it’s clear to talk.”
