Situationship

« Back to Glossary Index

A situationship refers to a complicated or undefined relationship between two people, somewhere between a friendship and a romantic partnership. It typically involves elements of a romantic relationship, such as intimacy and exclusivity, but lacks the commitment or clarity typically found in traditional relationships.

Examples:

– John and Emily have been hanging out, going on dates, and even sleeping together, but they haven’t defined their relationship. They’re in a situationship where they act like a couple without actually being one.

– Sarah and Mark have been friends for years, but recently they started developing romantic feelings for each other. However, they’re both afraid of ruining their friendship by becoming a couple, so they’re stuck in a situationship that’s more than just being friends, but less than a proper relationship.
