RTFM stands for “Read The F***ing Manual.” It is an internet slang term or abbreviation used to express frustration when someone asks a question without first attempting to find the answer themselves by referring to the provided documentation or user manuals.

Examples:

Example 1:

  • User1: How do I install this software on my computer?
  • User2: RTFM! The installation instructions are clearly stated in the user manual. Try referring to it first!

Example 2:

  • User1: Can someone please tell me how to program this remote control?
  • User2: Before asking, RTFM! The remote control comes with a detailed instruction manual that will guide you through the programming process.
