Rimseat is an internet slang term used to describe someone who lurks or observes a discussion thread or online conversation without actively participating or contributing any meaningful input. They typically remain silent and simply read the comments or posts without engaging with others.

Examples:

1. In an online gaming forum, a user asked for advice on how to defeat a challenging boss in a video game. Several users responded with helpful strategies, but one user remained a rimseat, quietly reading all the suggestions without participating in the discussion.

2. During a heated debate on a social media platform about a controversial topic, a user noticed an individual who had been silently observing the thread for hours without expressing their own opinion. This person was labeled as a rimseat, as they didn’t engage in the conversation or add any value to the discourse.
