The internet slang term “Rick Roll” refers to a prank in which someone tricks another person into clicking on a link that promises to lead to something interesting or relevant, but instead redirects them to a music video for the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.

Examples:

1. Person 1: Hey, check out this new trailer for the highly anticipated movie!
Person 2: Alright, let me see!
(Person 2 clicks on the link and is redirected to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video)
Person 2: Ugh, I got Rick Rolled again!

2. Person 1: I found this amazing website with exclusive footage of the upcoming video game!
Person 2: Really? Let me check it out!
(Person 2 clicks on the link and is redirected to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video)
Person 2: Not again! I can’t believe I fell for the Rick Roll!

Person 1: “This is the best tutorial for mastering Photoshop, trust me!”
Person 2: Alright, let me give it a shot. (clicks on the link and is redirected to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video)
Person 2: Seriously? I just got Rick Rolled again!

Person 1: “I found the perfect recipe for your favorite dish, check it out!”
Person 2: Oh, that sounds great! (clicks on the link and is redirected to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video)
