NIMBY

NIMBY stands for “Not In My Backyard.” It is internet slang used to describe people who are opposed to certain developments or changes happening near their homes or in their local area.

Examples:

1. When the city proposed building a new power plant, many residents became Nimby’s as they were worried about the potential noise and pollution it could bring to their neighborhood.

2. Some Nimby’s complained when a new skate park was planned to be constructed near their homes, arguing that it would increase noise levels and attract undesirable elements to the area.
