Mmw
MMW means mark my words- a quick way to say "I am calling it now" with confidence about what happens next.
People use MMW when they want a prediction to land harder. It shows up in texts, Reddit threads, sports takes, fan talk, and group chats right before someone makes a bold claim.
The tone is confident, sometimes dramatic, and sometimes a little smug on purpose. If you say MMW, you are not just sharing an opinion - you are planting a flag and daring people to remember it later.

What People Mean When They Say MMW
At its core, MMW is a prediction marker. It tells people the next sentence is something you strongly believe will come true, even if nobody else is fully sold yet.
That is why it feels stronger than just sayingI think. MMW turns a guess into a mini receipt.
You are basically saying, Come back to this later when I am proven right. There is also a slightly theatrical side to it.
Online, people use MMW for sports outcomes, celebrity news, election takes, stock chatter, TV theories, and friend-group predictions like who is getting back with their ex.
How MMW Shows Up Online
MMW works best before a specific claim: MMW, that show is getting canceled or MMW, he is dropping the album this summer. It is usually placed at the start so the confidence hits first.
It is most natural in fast, opinion-heavy spaces where people make calls and argue about them later. Reddit, X replies, Discord chats, sports threads, and casual texting are common homes for it.
Using it in everyday conversation can sound a little extra, which is part of the appeal. It gives your take a dramatic, prophecy-like edge without needing a whole speech.
Lines That Sound Like Real Life
MMW, the Knicks are making a deep playoff run this year.
MMW, she is not quitting social media for real - she will be back by Friday.

When It Sounds Forced

Avoid: Good morning team, MMW, today we will circle back and maximize synergy.
Where MMW Stands Now
MMW is still understood, but it is not a super-trendy flex term. It feels more like durable internet shorthand than viral slang.
You still see it in prediction-heavy spaces, especially where people like being right in public. It reads a little old-school internet, but not outdated enough to confuse people.
