Lateral – Internet slang term used to describe a move or strategy that is unexpected, unconventional, or outside the box. It refers to thinking or acting laterally, rather than following traditional or linear approaches.
Examples:
1. Instead of studying for the test, I decided to take a lateral approach and created a mnemonic song to remember all the important facts. Guess what? It actually helped me ace the exam!
2. When asked for a creative marketing idea, my friend suggested organizing a flash mob in a crowded mall. Although it initially seemed bizarre, it turned out to be a brilliant lateral move as the video went viral and our brand gained massive exposure.
