Jinx is an internet slang term used when two or more people say the same thing at the same time. It is believed that after a jinx, the involved individuals must remain silent until someone says their name or “jinx” is said a second time to break the spell. Here are a couple of practical examples:
1. Person A and Person B, in a conversation about their favorite movie:
Person A: “My favorite movie of all time is The Shawshank Redemption.”
Person B: “Oh, mine too! Jinx!”
In this example, both Person A and Person B express the same favorite movie at the same time, resulting in a jinx.
2. Person C and Person D, playing a online game together:
Person C: “Let’s hide behind this wall to ambush the enemy.”
Person D: “Great idea! Jinx!”
Here, Person C and Person D communicate the same plan simultaneously, triggering a jinx.
