Go off the deep end” is a slang term that means to react in an extreme or irrational manner, often due to a sudden emotional outburst or losing control of ones emotions. It implies going beyond what is considered normal or reasonable.

When someone “goes off the deep end,” they completely lose their composure and act in a way that is unexpected or out of character. This can involve shouting, crying, or engaging in erratic behavior. It is often used to describe someone who overreacts to a situation or becomes excessively emotional.

Example 1: When Mary found out she didn’t get the job, she went off the deep end and started throwing things around the room, screaming at the top of her lungs.

Example 2: After waiting in line for two hours, the customer went off the deep end when the cashier told him they ran out of the product he wanted, causing a scene and demanding to see the manager.
