Get cold feet: Getting nervous or losing confidence about something that was previously agreed upon or planned.

Examples:
1. John was supposed to ask Sarah out on a date tonight, but he got cold feet and canceled at the last minute.
2. The athlete had been training hard for the competition, but on the day of the race, he got cold feet and decided not to participate.
