Fish arm is an internet slang term used to describe the act of intentionally posting a misleading or false statement online in order to stir up controversy or provoke a reaction from others. It refers to a metaphorical action of baiting others, just like a fisherman would use bait to catch fish.

Example 1:
Person 1: Did you see Johns post about his new job? He claims he’s the CEO of a major company!
Person 2: Nah, he’s just doing a fish arm again. Last week, he said he won the lottery!

Example 2:
Person 1: Someone on the forum claimed that unicorns are real and have been living among us all along.
Person 2: Really? That’s clearly a fish arm. You always find wild claims like that on the internet!
