A dry run is when someone practices or tests something to see how it works or to prepare for a real situation.

Examples:
– Before the big presentation, Mary did a dry run to practice her speech and make sure she was ready for the actual event.
– To ensure everything goes smoothly on the day of the wedding, the couple decided to do a dry run of the ceremony with their close friends.
