Cooning is an internet slang term used to describe a behavior where a person, usually a member of a marginalized community, engages in actions or supports ideas that are seen as perpetuating negative stereotypes about their own community. It is often used to criticize individuals who may publicly degrade or mock their own race or culture for personal gain or acceptance from others.

Examples:

1. John, a person of African descent, made offensive jokes about African Americans during a comedy show. Many people on social media accused him of cooning and criticized him for perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

2. Sarah, a woman from a minority ethnic group, appeared on a reality TV show and consistently reinforced negative stereotypes about her community in order to gain popularity and secure a higher chance of winning. Viewers criticized her actions as cooning, pointing out that she was betraying her own culture for personal gain.
