Button mashing refers to the act of pressing buttons rapidly and randomly while playing a video game, with the hope of achieving a desired outcome through sheer luck or persistence.

In video games, particularly fighting games or games that require precise button inputs, button mashing involves repeatedly hitting various buttons on the controller with little strategy or thought. It is often used as a desperate or unskilled approach to gameplay and is generally discouraged among skilled players.

Example 1: “I couldn’t figure out the combo moves in that fighting game, so I just resorted to button mashing until my character pulled off a special move.”

Example 2: “My little brother isn’t very good at gaming yet, so he just button mashes whenever we play together.”

mashfest, spamclicking, rapidfire, mindlesspressing
