Bump is a slang term used to indicate that a post or comment on a forum or social media platform is being brought back to the top of a thread or feed to increase visibility and engagement. It is often used when a post hasn’t received any attention or responses and the user wants to give it another chance to be seen.

In online forums or social media platforms, users may “bump” their posts by commenting “bump” or simply using the word as a response to their own post. This brings the post back to the top of the thread, allowing it to gain more visibility and potentially receive responses. Bumping is often done when the user wants to draw attention to an important question, update, or topic that they feel hasn’t received adequate exposure.

Example 1: “I posted a question in the forum yesterday, but it got buried. I’m going to bump it to see if anyone can help me.”

Example 2: “This photo I shared on Instagram didn’t get many likes. I’m going to comment ‘bump’ under it to try and get more people to see it.”
