Banjee is slang used to describe someone who is bold, confident, and flamboyant, typically referring to a gay man or a flamboyant person in general.

Banjee originated in the 1980s African-American and Latino drag ball culture in New York City. It is believed to have derived from the term “banji,” which means rough or tough in African-American Vernacular English (AAVE). Banjee is often associated with a specific urban subculture characterized by high fashion, extravagant style, confidence, and assertiveness.

Example 1: “Wow, Marcus’s outfit is so banjee! He really knows how to show off his unique sense of style.”

Example 2: “She strutted down the street with a banjee swagger, turning heads everywhere she went.”
