Abackpacker” is a term commonly used to refer to a traveler who carries their belongings in a backpack and usually prefers budget travel and exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations.

In a more detailed sense, backpackers often prioritize experiences and cultural immersion over luxurious accommodations and tend to seek out adventure and authentic interactions with locals. They typically rely on public transportation, stay in hostels or campgrounds, and engage in activities like hiking, sightseeing, and volunteering. Backpacking is often associated with a sense of independence, self-discovery, and a desire to explore the world on a shoestring budget.

Example 1: “I met a group of backpackers from different countries at the local hostel. They were sharing travel stories and planning their next adventure together.”
Example 2: “Last summer, Sarah decided to embark on a backpacking trip through Southeast Asia. She stayed in cheap guesthouses and tried delicious street food in each country she visited.”
