Asian fishing refers to a deceptive practice where scammers pose as representatives of legitimate companies or organizations, often from Asian countries, to trick unsuspecting individuals into revealing personal or financial information. These scammers typically use various methods like phone calls, emails, or text messages to lure their victims into sharing sensitive information, such as credit card details or login credentials.

In this type of scam, the fraudsters impersonate Asian companies or institutions in order to gain the trust of their targets. They may claim to be conducting surveys, offering exclusive deals, or even threatening legal action if the victim does not comply with their demands. The goal is to obtain personal information that can be used for identity theft or financial fraud.

Example 1:

Person A: “I just received a call from someone claiming to be a representative from a famous Asian bank. They said I won a prize and wanted my credit card information to process it. Should I trust them?”
Person B: “No, be careful! Sounds like an Asian fishing scam. Legitimate institutions won’t ask for your credit card information over the phone.”

Example 2:
