Area Code refers to the first three digits of a person’s phone number that indicate the geographical area in which they are located. It is often used in slang to represent someone’s hometown or where they are from.

Example 1: “I grew up in the 305, that’s my area code.”

Example 2: “She reps the 212, representing New York City wherever she goes.”
