An “archetype” refers to a universally recognized, typical example or model of a certain person or thing. It represents the fundamental and essential characteristics or qualities that define a particular group or category. It is often used to describe a perfect embodiment or a pattern that is repeated throughout different contexts.

For example, in literature, the character of a wise old mentor who guides the protagonist through their journey is often considered an archetype. In mythology, the hero who overcomes great challenges and saves the day is another common archetype.

In everyday conversations, we also use archetypes to describe people or situations. For instance, when talking about a passionate artist who struggles for their art, we might say, “He’s the archetype of the tortured creative soul.” Similarly, if someone is constantly seeking adventure and exploring new places, we could say, “She embodies the archetype of a free-spirited wanderer.”
