Porque No Te Callas? is a sarcastic and confrontational phrase used in internet slang. It originates from an incident involving King Juan Carlos I of Spain and the then President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, during the 2007 Ibero-American Summit. The phrase, which translates to “Why don’t you shut up?” in English, became popular and is now often used humorously online to show annoyance or to mock someone who won’t stop talking.

Examples:

1. Person A: Did you see how much he talked in the meeting today?
Person B: Porque No Te Callas? He never lets anyone else speak!

2. Person X: I’m so tired of my coworker constantly giving unwanted advice.
Person Y: Just tell them Porque No Te Callas? They need to learn when to stay quiet!
