Piggyback refers to hitching a ride or taking advantage of someone else’s efforts or work for one’s own benefit or convenience. It is commonly used in internet slang to describe the act of reposting or sharing someone else’s content without giving credit.

Practical examples:

Example 1:

Person A: “I spent hours researching and writing this blog post, and then I saw someone piggybacked off it without even mentioning my name.”
Person B: “That’s so unfair! People should always give credit where it’s due.”

Example 2:

Person A: “I saw a hilarious meme on Reddit yesterday, and today I saw it on Twitter without any credit. People just love to piggyback on viral content.”
Person B: “It’s frustrating. The original creator deserves recognition for their work.”
