Aibohphobia is a slang term used to describe the irrational fear of palindromes. Palindromes are words, phrases, or numbers that read the same backwards as they do forwards.

This term is a combination of “aibohphobia,” which is palindrome for “phobia,” and “phobia,” which refers to an extreme or irrational fear. Aibohphobia humorously emphasizes the fear of palindromes, although it is not a recognized clinical condition.

Example 1: “Whenever Amanda sees a palindrome, she gets aibohphobia and avoids reading it backward.”

Example 2: “John’s friends decided to pull a prank on him by writing his name in a palindrome on his birthday cake, knowing about his aibohphobia.”
